Which is the best restaurant?

We want to try a restaurant as we're driving through MN in June. We have heard of Donatelli's on white Bear Lake, also Brodei's Cercina Italian. Has anybody tried these restaurants? Which one is the best? Thanks !

Do you mean which is "better"? Or do you mean which is the "best" -- and if so, best in the area? Best in the state? Sorry to be pedantic, but best and better are two entirely different things.

123, what is your route? Are you considering anything other than Italian food?

To answer your question I have not eaten at either of these restaurants but Italian food does not agree with my wife so we eat other types.

We are taking I-35 to our resort in MN. We usually stop at Wayzata, but thought one of these restaurants would be fun for a change.

If you want a change I suggest Piccalo, in Minneapolis. www.piccalo.com
After 5:00 only, small plates, like a tasting menu, pick 5,7,or all of them. It will be closer to I35 than Wayzata is.

Thanks for the Piccalo idea. We'll definitely give it some thought. We need all the help we can get to go to a good restaurant and enjoy. Thank You !

sorry Shar, it is a tappas restaurant, or a tasting menu, however you want to look at it. This is not romantic, it is a great food, very small restaurant. Reservations are a must. La Belle Vie is more traditional if that is what you are looking for, more old school.

If you usually stop in Wayzata, there are some new places to try. Cov is great (in the old Sunsets space) and has a wonderful lake front patio. Alternatively, if you like Italian, head around the lake another 15 minutes and try Victor's on Water in Excelsior. A wonderful Italian place in a fun, cute lakefront town. Afterwards, walk to Lick's for an ice cream cone and eat it on the Commons while watching all the boats go by.
