Where to stay near Everglades?
We will be arriving Everglades (coming from Titusville) on a Tuesday around noon. We'd like to visit the Everglades that afternoon and spend the night nearby before driving back up to Titusville.
It looks like Homestead or Florida City would be a good place. But I think we're also willing to look a little bit further north, off I95.
We like inexpensive, but new/clean (no musty/older hotels). Holiday Inn Express/Hampton Inns are fine. We also like free breakfast and coffee makers.
I'm open to suggestions. thanks, all!
(PS No flight changes can be made at this point, so we can't fly into Miami and do 'glades first, fyi)

I don't have specific suggestions for places to stay, but I'd stick with Homestead or Florida City (prefer the latter). I'm really not sure what you mean by anything off I-95, which won't be The Everglades. In fact heading south you're going to went to go west to the Florida Turnpike and head south instead of taking I-95 at least from Boca if not before.

If the Hampton doesn't work, the Comfort Inn in Homestead (it may have been Florida City, it was south, near the speedway) was perfectly clean and comfortable. Ask for the newer building, I think.
If you're in the area for dinner, the Mutineer was utterly delicious. But DO NOT GO to Gusto's.
