Coming over to NYC for some christmas shopping and would really appreciate if someone could tell me where to go to buy Mini Ipods (they are a lot cheaper in USA than UK)

Check J & R computer and music world, a HUGE store all the way downtown. They have a website you can search.

The Apple store in Soho is worth a trip. Then, you can choose to either buy it there or do some comparison shopping. The store in Soho is huge, has every ipod accessories, and a 'genius bar' for questions. they also have a theater upstairs where they have seminars that you can just walk right into. I just bought a pink mini and an arm strap from them about 2 weeks ago. Love it.

These days, you can even buy iPods at Target. Not that there is one in Manhattan, but it reinforces that they are widely available.

I am not from NY but regularly buy photography equipment from B&H, a large discount seller of photo, video, and other entertainment products, located in the vacinity of Madison Square Garden. They have a great store. I compared its prices with J.R. online, and they appear to be about the same. If I were you, I would compare their selections and prices on the Web and pick the store that is easiest to visit based on your travel plans. (www.bhphotovideo.com and www.jr.com).

At the moment, all above mentioned locations will sell the iPod for $249.00. My choice would be Apple Soho.(a dbl post might result here, my previous attempt never registered)

Buy your mini online from Apple.com and they'll engrave two lines of text on it (your name etc).

Might want to call ahead and see if they are in stock, most places have a waiting list of a few weeks.

My BF bought me a blue mini a few months ago, and had a tough time finding one (of any color). He called J&R who said they were getting in a new shipment on a Tuesday. Luckily he got there in time...they sold out before lunch.

The Apple Store may be your best bet, but the closer we get to Christmas, the tougher a pink one will be to find. I'd try ordering it over the internet before anything else.

The price will probably be the same at any retail outlet, so it's best to go where Pink is available.

The Apple store in Soho is best avoided on the weekend. It's the proverbial zoo.
