What to do in The City (SF) if raining?
We're arriving by car in SF this Friday (Good Friday) about noon and leave on Sunday noon. We've planned on visiting GG Park, walking through the downtown, Chinatown, N.Beach, etc. But, darn, the weather forecast now says rain (I know this can change)-- but what is there to do 'indoors' if its just too rainy. We're not into shopping for 3 days (maybe a couple of hours) -- any suggestions would be helpful. We already do plan on spending a few hours tasting the British and microbrews available -- so have that covered. Hoping to get some good ideas (since this trip was my idea!). Thanks all.

Hi onthegogo, according to the weather reports there may be showers. No prediction of storms.
Just dress in layers, bring a rain type jacket and a small umbrella. You should be fine.
There are museums, Museum of Modern Art, the Asian Museum etc.
When it showers use that as a time to pop into a cafe etc. for a bit.
I have been in SF so many times in weather like this and honestly it is not a big problem.
Have a fun trip! And best wishes for some sunshine and blue sky.

I wouldn't worry about the rain either - it's not supposed to be a big storm. More than likely you will see some intermitent showers and sprinkles. So as LoveItaly said, bring an umbrella and have a good time.

This storm doesn't seem to be steady rain. It's sunny one minute, gray and rainy the next, going back and forth all day. And it hasn't been cold.
Just stick to your plans and bring an umbrella. You can always duck into the stores when it starts raining, or go see a museum, then do the outside stuff when it's nicer.
If it starts raining while you're at GG park, duck into the museum or the arboretum, then head back outside when it stops

Bring good umbrellas. Everyone in SF is very used to rain so they go everywhere in it.
Indoors, there are fabolous musieums! one of Modern Art is my fav., but many more. Get an internet list before you leave.
Also, great plays and comedy! Opera, small theater, Broadway (do not walk there at night). Curran theater is great.
Great bus system and BART is simple for longer trips.
There's a very tall shopping center (sorry, forgot the name) that has a fablous view of the city, from the higher floors.
SF has a huge abundance of sights. If it's not too wet the walking/eating guided tour of Chinatown is great. Worth the cost.
Planitariam has star shows and lazer light shows. Hall of science. DeYoung Musieum - All in GG Park.
SF is NOT a city to be walking in at night. I take taxis at night.
