What music festivals/concerts are you going to this summer?

What's happenin' this summer? Where are you going to hear your favorite music?

Last September we attended the Ziegler Kettle Moraine Jazz Festival in West Bend, WI and it was excellent! Had such a great time we're going back again.

We attend the Kerrville Folk Festival each year. It's located on Quiet Valley Ranch outside of Kerrville. It runs eighteen days beginning Memorial Day.

First weekend features the Grassy Hill New Folk Competition. We are an unofficial host to the finalists. On weekend mornings, we host a breakfast for anyone who shows up. We make the performers sing for their breakfast and coffee. It usually is a lot of fun. If any of you are at the festival in the morning, drop by the Rouse House camp.

This year will be bittersweet. My father-in-law passed away two months ago. He organized and led the breakfasts. It looks like there will be a tribute performance for him at the Festival.

LDLee--this festival looks fun (I checked out the website). Sorry about the passing of your FIL; I'm sure he'll be there in spirit flipping the pancakes right along with you!

I'm trying to decide if I would rather attend the Santa Fe Opera again or see Mark O'Connor with his Appalachia Waltz Trio at the Santa Fe Chamber Music Festival.

The Rio Grande Zoo in Albuquerque has a nice lineup of groups on Friday nights. I see Trout Fishing in America is playing (fun family group!), as well as Ricky Skaggs and Kentucky Thunder - that would be great too.

Creation Festival at the Agape Farm in Pennsylvania in June. Thousands of Christians coming together to worship with outstanding Christian musicians and speakers. The Friday Night candle lighting ceremony is beautiful.

Irish Cultrural Centre in Canton, Mass host its annual Irish Festival in June. Every year they put on shows with every type of Irish music known to man - show bands, traditional, rock - plus story telling, shopping, dog show, horse jumping, step dancing, ceili dancing. This year feature Eileen Ivers - fiddler from the original cast of Riverdance and Gaelic Storm - traditional band seen in the movie Titanic.

We've already gone! In April went to the Baton Rouge Bluegrass Festival (the first year for it) and saw our favorite Bluegrass group, Blue Highway.
Lots of ladies I know can't wait to see Tom Jones in Biloxi (they're even buying special underwear to throw on stage!)

Breaux Bridge Crawfish Festival in La. this weekend. Zydeco all day and night! Can't believe I leave for New Orleans tomorrow.

Then in July there's Milwaukee Summerfest. I'm waiting to see who's on the side stages.

Hartford Jazz Festival in August. Parking not a hassle, can sit up front and hear great people much of the weekend long. Free (tho' yes, we donate

Haven't decided yet on the folk one. Probably either Great Waters in New Hampshire or the July 4th New Bedford one. Oh, or Clearwater in June.

We will probably hit the Blues Festival that Sunbum mentioned, then the Mt. Hood Jazz Festival (outside Portland, OR) in early August, and hopefully the Oregon Brewers Festival in late July. On a much smaller scale, our town has weekly concerts in the town park that we enjoy. Those go for about 6-8 weeks so it is fun to hit at least a few of those.

Tanglewood in the Berkshires. Either the jazz festival over Labor Day weekend, or one of the classical music offerings in July or August...with the required picnic on the lawn from Guido's.
