What combination of money?

Traveling with family to Waikiki in June. I'm thinking about bringing some cash, travelers checks and using ATM's while there. What have some of you done?

That's exactly what I'd do for cash.

I agree with your thinking, and bring a couple of credit cards for your major purchases. Have fun!!!

Why would you need travellers checks in addition to cash and ATM's (especially if you also have a credit card)?

I used to carry traveler's checks everywhere for fear of losing my cash. Now I carry cash, a credit card or two, and an ATM card in a fanny pack. That way my hands are free and I have a place for my camera. I guess someone could knock me down and take my fanny pack but it wouldn't be easy! I just found those traveler's checks to be a hassle.

Waikiki is not exactly the outback. Just do whatever you would at home. Stick some cash in your wallet, take your ATM card, a credit card. If you want to be extra safe put an extra ATM and second credit card somewhere separate.

Travelers checks are getting to be a thing of the past... especially when you're traveling within the U.S.!
