My annual trek to Hawaii. This year is 1 week on Maui from May 26th to June 2nd.
Leaving Seattle for the North Shore of Oahu - 5 nights in Halewia. Next Thursday can't come soon enough!
I want to just stay home and avoid all the people, but DW says we're heading for Northern California's wine country.
We are staying put
Son's wedding during memorial day, and our family is in the Bay Area. We'll host out-of-the-country guests in San Francisco.
We'll be hosting a houseful in Chatham, Massachusetts on Cape Cod. I hope the weather cooperates!
nothing
We'll be in Carmel. Actually we're leaving this Saturday. Traveling with our dog. It's really his vacation
"Soft" opening of the beach house, mainly getting it ready for summer, which begins on July 4th.
We always have something planned with family for that weekend, but nothing yet. [Just had 20 family/friends at a Mother's Day gathering} We will use a Marriott Rewards' free night' that has to be used by June 16th. Probably in Brunswick, Me. and go to LL Bean. Visit Portland the next day on the way home.
Home in Tennessee
Flying to DC and spending the weekend at Lewis Cabins in Shenandoah National Park. Will visit Monticello, Ashlawn Highland, and Montpelier. Might spend 3 or 4 hours doing something in DC before catching our flight back home.
We will be at our vacation home in Sunriver, OR (near Bend).
heading over to Kona and checking out the newly renovated Sheraton Keahou Bay resort and spa.
Going to Providence , RI for my college reunion!!
When other people travel, we hide.
From my couch - maybe to the Rose Garden - and maybe to the nearby Ocean to fish a bit.
In Nantucket:
Watch the Figawi sailboat racers arrive from Hyannis.
If one of our boats is in the and the weather is nice, have a sail ourselves. Won't fall in. Water still in high 50's or low 60's. Otherwise, reserve a sail on the Endeavor.
Won't do: go to bars or restaurants to watch 50'ish Figawi racers come on to college girls and 20 somethings.
I will be staying put enjoying the charms of the North Carolina Piedmont!
Packing up the house, barbecuing, and shivering as the children jump in the cold water of the pool on its opening weekend.
Ask again after the weekend, I'm paranoid enough that I consider vacation information something that should not be on the net until after the trip.
My daughter is graduating from grad school on May 24 & my other daughter will be home from NYC for the graduation, so we are all staying put at our house for the long weekend. Daughter's boyfriend will be with us for graduation & part of the weekend,so we'll have a barbecue at our house one day & a friend has invited all of us to a barbecue locally another day. Looking forward to the graduation & relaxing at home with family.
Starting our New Orleans/Pensacola Beach vacation. So looking forward to it!
Three days in Mexico City.
Flying from SFO to NYC for the weekend to attend my sister's dinner party.
My goodness, SAB, what's on the menu?
Staying home. I always do on 3-day holiday weekends. I love it because 1/2 of the city leaves and it's nice and quiet.
Ackislander: I do love the Figawi Race weekend! This marks the beginning of the summer season for me. For those who would like to know more, you can read up on it here:
http://www.figawi.com/page/race
We're not sailing that weekend at all. Too busy on the water.
My wife and I are going camping her style(room service optional). We are going to Duluth,MN. for 3 days, tour the North Shore of Lake Superior, travel to Ely MN. and then wing it. I have a new Ipad and are looking forward to using it for traveling in Minnesota and Wisconsin.
Am I suppose to have plans already?? It's still a week and a half away
We're staying in town at the moment. North of Syracuse, NY. If the weather is nice we will probably do a combination of golfing, motorcycling and BBQ. There are plenty golf courses in our area. Plenty of country roads to ride. Plus we live right on the Erie Canal so it's like a vacation all year long. Great spot for a BBQ.
We will be beginning our week long extended family vacation in Florida. It's just happenstance the Memorial Day falls in that time period.
Staying local~going to the family cabin at a nearby lake.
Driving to St Louis with a friend for Six Flags, the zoo, the antiques and just to get out of town. Much though I'd love to avoid the big travel weekends, I'm saving all of my vacation time for December so don't really have time to go anywhere other than on 3 day weekends.
Also, a weekend away gives my puppy (and my parents) a chance to get used to the idea that she can stay with them for a few nights and be fine. A couple more nights through the year and she should be fine with them for a couple weeks in December.
Iowa redhead - Let me know if you need any restaurant ideas!!
We are staying home as we leave for Hong Kong a few days later!
I plan on leaving the house around 3pm on friday for a weekend away to visit friends up north. We will likely return late Monday. I hate returning to a musty house so will leave a few windows open so that the breezes can fill the house with sweet air thru the screeens. Usually I would set the alarm, but during these economic times we had to cut back on something so the alarm company was first on the chopping block. Happy Memorial Day everyone.
annesherrod, yes please!!!
My friend is trying to eat gluten free (she has lupus and it seems to be helping) in case that matters.

We're driving down Friday and staying out by the airport (it's cheap). We're planning on the antique store neighborhood on Saturday (she has a book with info, I don't know much just that they have a bunch of antique stores) and anything else (maybe the Arch, maybe not). Six Flags on Sunday, and the zoo and anything else on Monday. We need to be back home at a decent time (8pm latest) and it's a 5'ish hour drive.
Not near enough time, but suggestions are always welcome!
Multi-day pool party and barbecue at my auntie's house
Iowa - I will post back - Look on this thread tomorrow. I will come up with suggestions!!!
I wonder if you are going to Cherokee Row for the antiques??
There are a few organic restaurants - not sure about the gluten part. Our local grocery carries tons of gluten free stuff - even tortilla chips that are to die for.
Long Island, North Fork.
For Iowa Redhead -
Great BBQ and both have wond National awards!
Super Smokers - a few minutes away from Six Flags
http://supersmokers.com/
Pappy's - in downtown St louis - a fun destination!!! many awards!!

A short drive down I-170- Innerbelt - to Clayton ( about 7-8 min) , there are tons of great restaurants. I would encourage you to go that way from your hotel as there really is nothing great near the airport.
A fun one!!BarCelona - Tapas, great Sangria - fun atmosphere.

There are many bars and wonderful Bistros on this stretch where it is inside/outside dining.
If you are at the zoo - you may want to drive around Forest Park as you can eat at the Boathouse. They have great local bands on most weekends. It is a fun atmosphere.
Have fun!
Anne, you rock! Thank you!!
You are welcome!! I have been out of town and first time checking back in -
Iowa - if you think of anything else let me know.....
Got off the train in Cleveland early Friday morning and rented a car. Currently in Cockeysville, MD. Our DD is getting married in Baltimore on Saturday.
Tuesday we head back to Cleveland by way of West Virginia.
Plan to get off the train on 5/31 in Cut Bank MT to go see the east side of Glacier NP. Back home in Oregon on 6/2.
Trip report when we get back and rested.
Driving 50 miles to my brother's house to celebrate the high school graduations of my youngest grandson and a great-niece. Covered dish lunch, and I'm taking Curry Chicken Salad (by request), Hershey Bar Cake (GS's favorite), and a Shaker Lemon Pie (because DD gave me a bag of lemons she wasn't going to use).
carolyn, are you interested in sending a doggie bag to Minnesota? I could give you my address if you need a taste tester.
Thank you for sharing your plans with us, everyone! The story is now live on the blog, if you'd like to check it out: http://www.fodors.com/news/story_5573.html
I don't think some of the editors or the chief editor of the blog understand what "across the pond" means.
It's kind of a UK / US thing so doesn't really translate on your blog.
