What are you doing New Years Eve?
As Harry Connick Jr sings? Can't decide if we want to go out or cook. What are your plans? Wanted to get lobster but it is tres expensive? Any other "SPECIAL" type dinner that is your fave? Anybody doing the the New Years big party scene?

I must confess that I will be dancing the night Fandango, sipping Champagne, and be cloistered in my Joseph Abboud tuxedo being suave! Hahaha! And to think I Brown Bagged it all my life so I could do this, travel the world, see our wonderful country, meet wonderful and interesting people. Ain't life wonderful here in Margaritaville?

Two of my best friends who have been living together for 16 years decided to get married on New Year's Eve. The ceremony is a on a boat (just four people), but the reception/party at their house afterwards. First NYE I've looked forward to in years.
By the way, they both work for the US postal service as supervisors and are moving to Maryland from Florida. The only reason they decided to finally get married is because the government will give them almost $10,000 more since both will be transferring and both can get a "spouse" benefit for moving. She'll be the new Postmaster in a Maryland town.

We are getting a sitter for two of our boys ( 5 and 3) and taking the baby (6 months... yes, another boy) to friends for a Texas Holdem' Party! I've never really played before so I hope I'll have beginners luck! Small group, casual dress and good food... quiet and easy. Perfect for this year. Cheers to all!

What's a "holdem" party moneygirl? Sounds like fun Patrick. Will you be one of the 4 on the boat? Judy, we haven't decided whether we'll join friends at a dinner party or stay home with caviar.

I'll be on a plane to Beijing, then Shanghai.
We'll actually miss midnight the entire 13 hours in the air between JFK and Beijing - so cool!

Well in any case have a beautiful NY's Patrick! You are always so fun on your post and for sure you deserve a special New Years.
I am staying home. I am invited out but what with the rainstorm and being so busy since before Thanksgiving I decided that I want to wake up NY Days feeling rested. Will probably have a few friends over but that is about it.

We will finally be having our family Christmas at my sister's in the country. She lives on a mile-long private road that has been impassable. My grandson and one of her granddaughters cried last week, and her youngest grandson said, "How can you postpone Christmas?"

We will be staying in for the evening, but heading north the next day to our house in the Catskills for a couple of days of family and R&R. The weather promises to be god, so we'll see... Cheers to all!

Judyrem: I just cooked a good dinner of lobster tails from Whole Foods for my son's 14th birthday dinner. They were wonderful and alot less hassle and less expensive than going out. You can broil lobster tails at home easily...just get good big ones and fresh lemon and butter and broil.
Tomorrow night will do easy filet mignon w/fresh veggies, and hats and noice makers while the early teen kids have their friends over to celebrate the ball dropping in Times Square.
So we are staying home after just returning from a Florida vacation for the past week. Quiet start to the New Year...

We're going to the Peach Bowl w/a bunch of friends. It's the first time in several years that we will be out on the road on New Year's. Normally it's a yummy seafood dinner with friends at one of our houses but since we're all Florida fans, we're breaking tradition.

My husband is working. He bartends a few nights a week for extra $$$, and tomorrow night will be a big $$$ night!!! I might go to a party at a friends house out in the burbs, but will probably stay home with my son and let him have a few friends over. I don't really want to drive out to the burbs tomorrow night, but then again, I will miss a great party in a lovely home with good friends.

We always spend NY Eve at home. We fix many appetizers (& a couple of sweets, of course) and "snack" all evening. The last couple of years our nephews have joined us, as well, so we have 4 energetic boys running around all night. I still need to choose the beverages for DH and me!

We almost always spend New Years Eve alone together at home. We go somewhere for a bite of dinner, then listen to music, and wait for the ball/apple to drop. We started a tradition of exchanging a small gift at midnight, just the two of us

We will be eating Lobster. The best food for the new year. Can't wait! BTW New Years starts at 12 AM Central time for over three hundred million of us in the Americas. That ball in Times Square drops an hour ahead of time but who cares!
