What are the best websites to check for cheap flight updates?
What are the best websites to check for cheap flight updates? We have several places we're looking at for spring break and thought we might go where we could find a good price on a flight. We'd be flying from Illinois to Miami (Keys), Phoenix, or San Francisco. Or is there a better way? Thanks in advance.

kayak.com is good to find flights with prices
yapta.com is good to track prices once you know a specific flight you are interested in.
Southwest is not on any of these kind of sites. You can check those yourself at www.southwest.com I think Jetblue is the same, not on the search sites.

I use kayak and then check with individual airlines. I also check travelocity and expedia - but rarely find them to have better fares.
Do not know when "spring break" is - it varies so much - but I find fares tend to increase, not decrease, the closer you get and flying the anchor weekends is the worst - so if there is anyway you can leave on a TH and return on a T, that often gives least expensive fares.
When checking MIA, consider FLL and PBI (West Palm Beach) as alternate airports - some airlines serve one and not the other and there can be a huge difference in price - and PBI is only a little more than an hour north of MIA, with FLL being even closer.

I agree with gail except I use ITA. Southwest isn't included on this site, but their prices are usually the same as AirTran.

And then again the rest of her information is gospel for me, also.

Thanks so much for all your replies. I've heard of all of those and many more so its good to be able to zero in on a few of them. Flights just seem to be high right now and we were going to go where we could get the best deal. Right now that looks like Miami and then we'd head to the Keys. We have a high schooler who wants to go somewhere warm. Of course he says he wants to go somewhere warm AND exotic which to him would be western Caribbean or something like that but everything seemed to be high and of course he wants to direct but isn't paying for it. ; o

San Francisco will not be warm. It will be warmer than Ill. but no where what your teen is thinking "warm"
Have you considered Mexico? I don't know much but know that many folks love it and it should be warm during spring break.

Have you considered a short cruise from south Florida - there are 3 or 4 night cruises on a number of lines (RCCL, NCL esp) - you still have to get to MIA but we have found that the cost of hotel, food, activities on land is greater than on a cruise - that might take care of the "exotic" part of it.
