What airport to depart from Sequoia Nat'l Park

Planning a visit to Yosemite and Sequoia National Parks in June. Already have reservations in the parks - staying at the Wuksachi Lodge in Sequoia. What airport would be best to use when leaving Sequoia and heading back to east coast? Thinking that Fresno may work the best, even though can't get a non-stop back to east coast (Boston) - will end up changing planes in SanFrancisco. However the ride to SF looks to be 5-5 1/2 hours from Sequoia. Sacremento also looks far. (We are going to fly into SanFrancisco and then drive to Yosemite the next day - can non-stop going there. No non-stops available to Sacremento or Fresno.) If we book now, the prices are not significantly different for two cities (arrive SF; depart Fresno). Any thoughts on departing via Fresno after leaving Sequoia?

I think Fresno would be fine-it is small and pretty easy in and out. The only other one to check might be San Jose. That is 3 1/2 hours or so though, but since they are heart of the silicon valley they might have some BOS non-stops. IMO it isn't worth the extra drive however. Also watch your traffic times if you do go to San Jose-it can be bad at the wrong time of day.

FAT is easy to get to and easy to navigate. Mostly good road from sequoia into Fresno.

We have flown out of Fresno and San Jose on our trips to Sequoia and Yosemite. Sacramento isn't that close(perhaps might be ok, if you were exploring the Hetch Hetchy are then head to SAC)

I think two days a week Allegiant Air has flights from Fresno to Las Vegas allegiant.com

You should be able to fly to the east coast from LV.
The other airports in California to check would be Oakland and
San Jose.

LAX is the same distance from Sequoia as San Jose if FAT doesn't work. Also, check car rental costs for all the airports.

Thank you for all the replies! It looks like Fresno will be a good option - after a week and returning home, I think it will be better to only drive 2 hours to Fresno ... just have to look into what car rental company would be best for pick-up in SanFrancisco and drop-off in Fresno.

FYI: You can ride An Amtrak bus from Fisherman's Wharf to Jack London Square (Oakland) and get a San Joaquin train to Fresno.
Taxi to FAT to pick up your rental car. It might be cheaper than the drop off fee and save you a lot of driving.
