walt disney world tricks?

Hello. I am a 36 year old Disney World fan who is taking her not-so-fortunate sister , 3 nieces and 1 nephew to Walt Disney World next May. Aside from the usual booking in advance, does anyone know of any "tricks" or ways to get a discounted rate? Is it the same booking through a travel agent as it is directly with WDW or the internet? Is it less expensive to buy airfare seperately from the package? Any advice or suggestions are greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance. Ellen

Ellen-Check with AAA or your employer to see if they have disount tickets. As for package pricing, shop around and see what you can come up with especially with a small group. United, Delta, USAir, Continental, Southwest, America West all have vacation packages. Also, check out the WDW's web site and Adventure Vacations for packages.

Get the Disney Club card. It entitles you to a discount on park passes. It also entitles you to 10% off on-site lodging and purchases at Disney Marketplace and any Disney store. The Disney Club website is www.disneyclub.com. Personally, I always find that I save money using the card and booking the trip separately, on my own, rather than booking a package.

Ellen,

Be careful and check prices. On the four trips to WDW that I have planned for our family, it has always been less expensive to book the trip components individually rather than by purcashing a package. Just take a careful look!

Ellen, a good travel agent can advise you on the best way to book your trip. Ours discovered a huge savings by booking the air tickets seperately from a package (she checked everything to find the best deal). She also suggested, correctly, that a parkhopper pass was better for us than a length of stay ticket (which they try to sell you with the WDW package) as the length of stay starts and ends with the days you'll be there. Since we were arriving near midnight, that would have been one full day wasted. We left before sunrise, so the last day would have been a waste as well.

Play around with the booking part of the Disney site (enter your trip dates, level of hotels, etc. etc.) to see what price you'd pay directly to them. Then, go to a good travel agent and see what they can do for you. You can enter as many variables on the Disney site as you wish without a committment (just don't give them your credit card! It's the last thing they ask for, so there's no committment up to then). It's good information to take to the travel agent for comparisons.

Study the WDWIG.com site well. It's full of important information. You must be a very special aunt to take your neices and nephew on this vacation.
