Venitian Gondola Ride

Is there a fee for the gondola ride at the Venitan Hotel. How much is it and is it worth the $$. What do you see.

I'll admit I did this...under protest. The cost is about$12 each and there is usually a line - get there right as they open to avoid. There are two rides - one inside the casino (actually on the second floor) and one in front of the hotel outside. The one in the casino last about 20 minutes during which time your are entertained by your gondolier. Ours was the lead singer at the Follies for 20 years - he told us they are hired based upon their singing abilities. It was very hokey, but we had a good time.

$12 for those gondola rides at Venetian???!!!
You've gotta be kiddin'!!!

Do you realize a REAL gondola ride in Venice is almost the same price (if you haggle) except the scenery is beautiful instead of plastic?

Next thing you know they'll be charging $10 to gaze at the fake pyramid and $15 to see the fake volcano!

Yes, We took the ride. We took the inside one as it was 104 degrees outside. We even bought the picture afterwards. It is now sitting in a lovely frame on my desk at work.
I believe it was $12.

You can get a gondola ride in Venice for $12 if you "haggle." No way, no how, nobody. Anyone who's been to Venice knows that's impossible. You couldn't get one of those guys to give you a ride for $12 if you held a gun to their heads.

As for paying $12 at the Venetian, that doesn't sound too awful (though I don't think I'd bother). As for it being "phony," that's also true when you pay $7 to see a movie where Harrison Ford rescues the world. Is that real? No, it's entertainment.

If its $12 EACH in Las Vegas, then it is somewhat comparable to the real Venice, as there you pay by the boatload, not by the person, and if you haggle, you can get it for $60-75 or so, and the gondola will fit 4-6 people. Gondola rides in a fake Venice I suppose are one reason why Europeans look down their nose at American culture. Did a 'real' gondola ride a few months ago in Venice, Italy--it DID not smell, and was a time I will remember forever!

$40 for 50 minutes was our price (with coupon) for gondola ride in Venice, Italy.
So, I think you got "taken for a ride" Mr or Ms Vegas.

Venice (Italy) and its canals do not stink, and the gondoliers rarely haggle anymore. A 30-45 min. ride at sunset can set you back about $50.00

I remember laughing as a couple floated by on the gondola while getting married. Another cheesy Vegas wedding.

You can make reservations, so you can leave and come back at your time.
You are not paying for a fake gondola ride. These are real gondolas manned by gondoliers with beautiful singing voices... pure entertainment, and pure Vegas. Do you call going on a the Materhorn at Disneyland a "fake" bobsled ride? Lighten up and let the rest of us have fun!

As for the smell of canals in Venice, during summer they can get very ripe and pungent smelling.
Varies a lot by season, recent rains and breeze status.

The gardens and lawns of the casinos are watered with freshly treated waste water. So that flush this morning is the spray on your face as you walk to the next casino. It stinks.

Why would a thread about gondolas in Las Vegas belong on the Europe forum?

Because "duh" was threatened by something he didn't understand.
His small character and lack of self confidence led him to lash out as a means of compensating.
Oh. And then there's that issue of penis size....

Sigmund,

OR

perhaps duh was trying to get a rise out of people on this site who are uptight - worked like a charm, I knew some idiot would fall for it (and you're the one Freud).
