I live a few streets away. You have the subway near you or on a nice day you walk across the bridge passing MIT and you are in back bay, Newbury st. shopping Prudential center. I have eaten there but not seen the rooms but your price is remarkable, unbelievable! I don't have a guest room to put up guests from France but if your quoted price is correct...WOW!!!!!

Hello Mimi...thanks for getting back to me...this was the first time I've used priceline.com...I requested a Moderate-Plus hotel in Cambridge or Downtown Boston and they actaully upgraded me to an Upscale hotel...and the price does seem remarkable !?

Does it look like a nice place...have you heard anyhting about it ?

Are Back bay and Newbury Street nice, cool...are there any good restaurants or bars there ?

Newbury st starts with the Ritz and Chanel, Banana Republic. Tons of restaurants and sidwalk cafes. You'll be close to Harvard Sq. At the Charles Hotel there-Henrietta's Table. You'll be confortable there eating at the bar or terrace if you are alone. I do it all th time. Legal seafood has a branch near MIT. It's a chain of fabulous seafood with reputation for having a staff behind the scenes to ensure everything you eat is safe...there are so many bars too many to name.

You didn't give a clue to how old you are and if you're alone. If alone I will add the Cafe at the trendy expensive Louis shop. Boston is very expensive! That's why I was shocked at what you are paying. I lived for many years on Newbury St in a rent controlled apartment but when all the rich Euro kids came in, the rents were decontrolled and all the apartments are now beauty salons, art galleries. Next door to my old apartment is the Armani boutique and cafe. So that's why I am now on the other side of the charles river. They now have two gondolas that you can hire for a ride on the charles. Theres the duck tours .(they convert from land to water)

Helen, the hotel is brand new (just a few years old at best). It's in a fabulous location. Central Sq. Cambridge is a very interesting area which is becoming more gentrified all the time. YOu can walk from your hotel to Harvard Sq. and enjoy all the small shops and atmosphere (or take the T one stop and you'll be there). YOu can also stroll across the Charles River to Boston (or take the T or the bus, depending on which end of the city you want to see). At the price you got, it's the bargain of the century!!! Please give us a report when you return. I'm also local so I can't report on rooms, but I'm always interested in hearing what the local options are. Enjoy your visit.
