Uncrowded Destinations for week after christmas.

Family of four with kids age 7 and 13 seeking less crowded area for family fun for the week between Christmas and New Years. Originally wanted to do New York city but don't want to fight the crowds. Same for all Disney properties. Any suggestions?

I posted a request a few weeks ago asking about the best time to visit NYC. I was told that the week after Christmas would be slow as everyone had been there before Christmas and a lot of businesses close for that week. You may want to revisit that thought.

Here are three that I've done personally with kids, all of them less than mobbed and quite enjoyable:

Most recently, the Outer Banks of North Carolina, specifically Duck: http://www.fodors.com/community/unit...ek-in-duck.cfm

Pittsburgh: (Pittsburgh? Yup!) http://www.fodors.com/community/unit...sy-journey.cfm

And, of course, Philadelphia: I can give you a LOT more things to do with kids here, but this was our two days:

Where are you coming from? Warm or cold? Beach or mountains?
Budget lodging or the Ritz? Do you want to be at your destination for NYE with a big party?

The week after Christmas is a GREAT time to visit NYC! It's one of my favorite times. Everything is still decorated for the holidays but there are no crowds. Prices drop as well. The prices for the Radio City Music Hall Christmas Spectacular is a fraction of the earlier December prices.
