Trip to San Francisco/Sonoma

My boyfriend and I are heading to San Francisco and Sonoma on June 16th. We plan to spend 2 days in San Fran and the rest of our time exploring Sonoma County and the coast, tasting great wine and having a wonderful time. We are really looking forward to this trip.

Could anyone please recommend a hotel in San Fran? We are looking to take the Alcatraz tour, go to Fisherman's Wharf and do as much sightseeing as possible since we are only going to be there for 2 days. We would like a hotel that is centrally located - people have told me to look for a hotel in Union Square. Any suggestions? Under $250/night would be great.

When we get back I'll post my trip report/restaurant reviews.

Thanks!!

If you want to save some money and spend it on good food and wine, the Holiday Inn Express on Fisherman's Wharf is very nice. There will be lots of kids, but it is reasonable, in good shape and the rooms are nice.

Try Priceline for Union Square East. If you've never used Priceline, spending some time at http://www.biddingfortravel.com and/or http://www.betterbidding.com first.

You're going to one of my favorite cities - have a wonderful time!
