Top of the Rock..What time of day for best view?

I have already been to the Top at nighttime and thought the views were spectacular! However this time (I will be there in mid November ) I would like to go during the day so that I can see what the city looks like all spread out in its grandeur. What would be the best time of day for viewing, assuming the day is fairly clear.. early morning, mid afternoon, later afternoon, or what would you all suggest?

First thing in the morning when it opens to try and beat the crowds.

Go at dusk, so you can see the city from the Rock, during the daylight, as it turns to sunset and the city lights up. It's gorgeous.

It depends on the weather. If it's cold out, I'd recommend going during midday, when it's the warmest. It can get cold and windy up there!

I agree with PeaceOut. We went at dusk, and it was great seeing the lights come on all over the city. We stayed for quite a while.

Top of the Rock - Rockefeller Center. Much better than Empire State Building - better views - and now aiting with advance timed tickets.

Sorry about not mentioning New York City! (Silly me thinking everyone knows what I am thinking!)

Thanks for the suggestions. I think maybe we should just wait for the perfect day..no wind, clear visibility, and no lineups..yeah right. Dusk does sound like the best of both worlds though doesn't it?
