The Producers-Discount Tix?

We are interested in seeing this production, apparently with Nathan Lane and Matthew Broderick, during a quick weekend visit to Chicago in February. Has anyone heard any advance reviews?

Also, the tickets are pretty pricey ($63-$73 for average to good seats. Are there any reliable places to get discount tickets for a Friday night show? THANKS!

The only place I know of in Chicago to get discount tickets is Hot Tix which I believe sells discounted tickets on the day of performance. There is a Hot Tix branch on Randolph St, not far from the Marshall Fields's on State Street and there should be one up near Water Tower Place. It's not likely that you will find tickets to a show like "The Producers" which is a short run only during February. I've been to a couple of recent shows at the Palace and Shubert on a Wednesday night and they've been pretty full.

Hot Tix has the unsold, date-of-performance tickets. Your chances of getting a seat on a weekend are certainly worse than on a weeknight. You must decide if missing the performance, or seeing it but sitting separately or in poor seats is worth saving the 50% in ticket price.

If the reviews are good, I'm betting the run will sell out quickly. It's pre-Broadway, has a popular cast and is about the only big-name musical in town that month.

Went to get my Momma Mia tickets at Ticketmaster yesterday and the first thing that the saleswoman said was, "I hope you don't want The Producers there." These shows have short runs as they are going to Broadway or traveling. Don't think you are going to have much luck getting tickets together in one location or at any discounts. You may be able to get them from some of the brokers or e-bay, but I'm sure that they are not going to be discounted.

Yikes! Guess I was a little naive about getting cheap tickets to this show. Not only are there no discounted tickets...upon further investigation, a broker/conceirge ticket is running over $200. Chicago has obviously been starved for decent shows, so this one is HOT, HOT, HOT.

Thanks anyway for the replies.
