Stowe from NYC -- drive or fly ?

We (husband, myself, child) will be traveling to Stowe over New Years -- don't know if we should fly Jet Blue or do a road trip. Any suggestions ?

Friend did jet blue and loved it.

Ask whoever is driving how they will feel on the return. I can ski on two hours of sleep but I am not sure on driving. Stowe is only about and hour from Burlington.

If you have the time to drive, you should drive. It is a beautiful drive.

Drive. It's not that far, you'll have more flexibility with your schedule, no airport parking and schleping winter gear to the terminal, then to your rental car, possible flight delays in January, etc!

Ditto Jealous, Think about what the drive home will be like after a day of skiing. Will you have to cancel of day of skiing to accomodate driving. What will the traffic be like?

I've done both. The earlier post is correct, by the time you figure in JFK traffic, the airport lines and the drive from Burlington, you might as well drive.

Best route is probably I-91 north from New Haven to I-89, then Route 100 to Stowe. It's all interstate (obviously) until Route 100, your best bet when you never know about weather and road conditions. Should take about 5-1/2 hours. There's a fantastic "diner" Athena II (more a family style restaurant with diner decor, excellent food, everything imaginable on the menu, low prices) at Exit 12 on I-91. On the other side of the exit is a Starbucks should you need that sort of fortification for the rest of the trip.

The only suggestion I can offer is that if leaving at a tiem of day when the Cross Bronx and I95 N are likely top be congested, try going out the Hutch to the Merrit Parkway. The Merrit is a really nice way to get to Rte 91 - in the AM it's relatively uncrowded and an easy drive.
