we were in hawaii summer 2006 and stayed in kehei..the beaches there all have parking but if your looking for beaches, kehei wasnt that scenic etc..there is some snorkeling between the beaches which was very good but just for the beach we'd go to big beach... ..FYI kamaole beach is where the shark attack was last summer...we spent 10 days there and had no problems tho...our favorite was big beach..there also is parking there...but if you read other posts DO NOT leave anything of value in the car...we were lucky and nothing happened but were warned all the time...hope this helps some...enjoy...

Lots of places to park in the areas you mentioned. Here's a good map:

My favorite beach is Ulua Beach. The parking lot is small, so I often have to park at the Renaissance Hotel cut through the grounds and walk to the beach.
Wailea Beach is beautiful too and there's always a ton of parking.

Our favorite beach (I believe it's south of Wailea and north of Makena) was Po'olenalena Beach. Lovely stretch of sand, snorkeling in the rocks at either end, good-size parking lot.

We just returned from Maui and stayed in Makena, walking distance from the beach at the Maui Prince. Big parking lot just past the hotel off the main road. It is a nice beach and a great spot to snorkel!

Po`olenalena may be the best snorkel from shore spot in Maui, near the Makena Surf. Small parking (64 spots), primative facilities.

FYI: There are 3 Kamaole beaches (in Kihei). All good or better swimming and snorkeling.

Just south at Keawakapu (beginning at the Mana Kai-public parking in front) is very good snorkeling. Ulua, further south, is very good also, though parking is a constant problem and the water is congested with 2 legged critters.
