Not only can you see snow capped mountains, but you can actually hike on a glacier field in Glacier National Park in northern Montana. We did and it was in July. And you do hike in shorts and t-shirts. Some people even brought their cross country skiis.
It is not a very difficult hike at all. It is at the top of Going to the Sun road.
It is about two miles round trip. Awesome! I highly recommend it. Also, the Tetons were snow covered when I was there a few years ago.

You can ski on the Palmer glacier on Mt. Hood year round, 90 miles west of Portland, OR.
Trails above 5,000 feet are often covered with snow over July 4 weekend at Mt. Rainier, (over 14,000 feet tall) in Seattle. There are many glaciers on Rainier, and it is snow capped year round.
In fact, I'd say lots of the Cascade mountains have glaciers and are snowcapped year round (and they are very cool volcanos, to boot).
It snowed on my in-laws at Crater Lake on July 4 weekend a few years ago (a caved in volcano).
I believe the mountains on the Olympic Penninsula in Washington have snowpacks year round, as well.
And, they are strikingly beautiful.
Where is Tioga Pass Road?

Tina, you might be right. If only I'd put my photos in albums, I could look and tell you. There are plenty of glaciers in the Olympics, but they may not really show, nor be "snow capped" to any degree, in the summer.
I'll ask my sister, if noone replies. She lives in Tacoma and actually has a view of the Olympics from her home. She's getting back from Italy today, so it may be a few days. Maybe, in the meantime....Seattle-ites?

When we were in Seattle 2 summers ago and had 3 unusually (according to residents) clear days, we were able to see Mt. Ranier and its very white-top clearly. When we flew in over the Cascade Mts. we saw white-topped mountains. I had no idea there was a discussion/distinction about whether or not this was snow or glacier - learn something new here every day - but they were beautiful.

There will still be some snow on the tops of non-glacial mountains in the Olympics and Cascades in July; glaciated mountains like Mts. Rainier, Baker, Hood and Adams will obviously still have white tops. The last snow-tops (instead of ice-tops) usually lose their cover around the end of August.

Some years back my children got out to play in the snow when we were driving over the mountain passes on rt 550 in Colorado between Ouray and Durango. Also ran into a snow squall while driving in Rocky Mountain National Park in Colorado during the first week in July.

With the weather in New England this month you should be able to see snow in July from just about everywhere, lol. Last Friday in Massachusetts it was 68 at 7pm, 2 inches of snow Saturday, today it is 70, and is expected to hit 85 by Friday. Oh, and we have had frost everynight for the past week!
