Smoke in SW FL

If you're thinking about spending the holiday weekend in SW FL, just be aware that it's very smokey here. You can see the smoke in the air, it smells horrible and it's unpleasant and unhealthy to be outside. We need lots of rain.

Forest fires, the big one on the GA/FL line has consumed over 250,000 acres according to some reports. Its been burning for well over a month now. Its located in the general area of the Okefenokee Swamp.. The smoke can get bad in some areas depending which way the wind blows. Been rather clear in Central Florida for a week or so now. there are other fires burning across the state but most of the problems caused by them is local in nature.

We live in SE Florida. We really haven't had much visible smoke this year although a few weeks ago we could smell it a bit at certain times of the day.

Nothing now and nothing to worry about.

To the person who asked where the smoke comes from: In SW Florida (And SE FL) there is occasionally smoke in the air due to the recurring fires in the Everglades.

We live in Sarasota and found that the heavy rains helped quite a bit for us.
