Santa Fe: directions to Tesuque Village Market for lunch?
My friends and I are flying to Santa Fe tomorrow, but will immediately head north towards Red River. Knowing we'll be hungry upon arrival for lunch, I'd like to drive from the Santa Fe Municipal airport north on the 599 Relief Route. I've seen signs for Tesuque Village Market and have read of a place to eat there - but googling has produced various results of exactly where it is. Would fodorites be able to help me with this? Many thanks, in advance.

From the relief road, you will get on 285/84. I believe you need to take exit 168 on 285/84. You would go a bit north on a frontage road and then get on Tesuque Village Road and head north on it. The market is at the intersection of Tesuque Village Road and Bishop Lodge Road. 599 Bishops Lodge Road.

I'm not sure of the numbers of the exit but you will take the FIRST Tesuque exit going north from Santa Fe which is also the opera exit from 285. Turn right. The road will slow down and the market will come upon you on the right hand side.
Leaving the market you will take the same road out going north and it will connect with 285.
Tesuque Village Market has fallen down in quality a great deal in the last year. Just giving my personal opinion in case you want to stop somewhere else.

Had breakfast there mid Apri. It was fine, nothing real special. NEAT DOOR IS A GREAT SCUPTURE GARDEN AND GALLERY, ESPECIALLY THE GARDEN. Also ENJOYED THE DRIVE ON Bishop's Lodge Rd. I'm typing one-handed, so forgive the Caps

I agree with BeachGirl247.
We had lunch there not too long ago and it was dreadful. There were massive amounts of bugs everywhere, including the enclosed cases of carry-out food. Someone in our group commented it was like a deli, and not a good one. Of note, the restrooms were deplorable; to me, a key indicator of what happens in the kitchen.
Big fans of Santa Fe and although we're not frequent visitors, know there are countless other choices. Hopefully someone else can direct you to a better place.

Thanks to everyone who gave specific directions to Tesuque - after reading the reviews of the food/restaurant, we opted not to stop there. Instead, we took subway on the plane for lunch! For future trips, however, what about stopping at Gabriel's? I tried googling it and couldn't seem to garner any information on whether it was open for lunch or not - any thoughts? Basically, I'm looking for a lunch spot north or Santa Fe as we take the 599 relief route from the airport and bypass the city itself. If we wait until Taos - we're starving...

We had lunch at Gabriel's on a Saturday about four years ago. The food was good, but the service wasn't. We had to track down servers for drink refills, they were slow (and they weren't super busy that day), and we weren't all that impressed.

Gabriel's is known for their table-side guacamole and views of the ski mountain from their patio. I thought their food was ok but not for a destination lunch, if that makes sense.
Just for a place to stop, Tesuque Village Market is fine. Plus, you can pick up snacks or drinks to take with you. Plus, it is situated in a lush, treed area of Tesuque.
