San Francisco - Room for four
Family of four - two adults, two teens - searching for a hotel room(s) below $200/night. It seems most hotels only offer one King or two Double beds per room. Kids have grown up and we now need a room with two Queen size beds.
After a week of researching Fodors and the internet, I have found only two that meet our requirements. The first is The Columbus Motor Inn. They offer two rooms (one with King and one with Queen bed)with one bath for $170/night. The second is the Grosvenor Suites on Nob Hill. They offer a two room suite with two Queen beds for $170/night, also.
My questions are:
1. Are there any other S.F hotels that have two Queen beds in one room, in our price range, that you would recommend?
2. Anyone have recent personal experience at either the Columbus Motor Inn or the Grosvenor - either pro or con?
Thanks in advance for you help/suggestions.

We ran into the same problem when we made reservations a year ago. We ended up with a tiny 2-room thing at the Tuscan Inn (Fisherman's Wharf) but it didn't work all that well (it only had a king bed a double sofa bed and absolutely no room even for a cot). I also researched everywhere I knew - it seems that with land being so tight in SF, hotels don't do suites (we usually look for Residence Inn or other all-suite hotels). The only hotels we found like that were at the airport which is a considerable distance from town. Sorry I can't be more help, but wanted to let you know you are not alone in your hotel struggles. (We travel quite a bit and this is the only city we had this much trouble finding a place to roost our family which includes a boy and girl teen, making it more complicated)

Gail - thanks for posting. I love to travel with my children, introducing them to new cities and cultures. Have traveled to many different U.S and European cities. I am amazed that it is this difficult to find family lodging in San Francisco, at a reasonable price. Having to purchase two rooms at a minimum of $139 each (such as at the Holiday Inn) must make this city unaffordable to many families.
Still searching for more choices. If others know of any, please post them here so this thread can become a valuable source for families wanting to visit San Francisco.
