Road trip - quick stops between Indianapolis and NYC

We are driving from Indianapolis to College Station PA and then on to NYC. Returning, we are going directly from NYC to Indianapolis.

Roads we will be on are I 70 through Indiana and Ohio, 99 80, 76 and 78 in Pennsylvania and 80 and 78 in New Jersey.

Since our primary destination is NYC, we do not plan to spend much time visiting attractions along the way (other than Penn State). However, we will need to get off the highway to eat!

Does anyone have any suggestions for quick places to stop near the Interstate that are also interesting?

I am thinking about places like the world's largest truck stop or another truck stop that doubles as a route 66 musuem (from trips to the west). Or there might be interesting restaurants that wouldn't be too time-consuming. I remember one once that had a space theme. (My examples might be more interesting if I could remember the details off the top of my head.)

Anyway - it's a long drive and we just as well stop somewhere interesting rather than McDonalds if there is anywhere.

Make a stop in Emlenton for ""America's Worst Apple Pie" http://old.post-gazette.com/lifestyl...1026herel3.asp
When you leave State College get back on Interstate 80 which will take you clear to the GW Bridge. There is no need to go on the PA Turnpike.

Thanks for the tips.

I'm not an apple pie fan to begin with - so it would be interesting to try the worst apple pie.

You could stop in Clearfield, Pa and take part in the Biggest Hamburger Challenge.

You could stop near Canton Ohio --there must be some sort of football thing there.
It's not really such a bad trip--probably less than the 8 hours mapquest says although I find their estimates amazingly accurate--unlike what AAA used to give on their tripticks.
If you want to antique there are two huge and good antique malls near Springfield Ohio, just off I70. No food there though.
Just outside Dayton on I70, in Englewood, OH, there are some cute little eateries.
