My boyfriend and I were considering taking a road trip through some US states. We were considering a trip from Chicago to New Orleans, and wanted to know what would be some good places to stop and see/experience along the way (Tennessee, Utah, Arkansas, Mississippi) that aren't too off the way. If this doesn't work, does anyone know any other good ideas for a road trip (Yellowstone Nat. Park, Grand Canyon, ...?) and some places to stop along the way for 2 people in their early 20s? All responses would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

It looks like you are going to have to get out a map of the United States. A trip from Chicago to New Orleans is no where near going to Utah.

Your other options seem up in the air. Why not decide on where you want to go, then come back with some specific questions.

I placed Utah in the wrong category, sorry. Utah would be considered if we took a road trip to the Grand Canyon instead,along with Colorado.

Memphis is a fun town, I'd spend a couple nights there.

I would pick a region of the US and stick with that. Either the South, Southeast, Southwest, Midwest, Mideast Northeast, Northwest, etc. and go with that. The US is geographically too large to try and do multiple regions in one roadtrip without being exhausted.

Abraham Lincoln birthplace - Kentucky

Blue Ridge Parkway / Great Smokey Mountains National Park - (North Carolina / Tennessee)

Vicksburg Mississippi - historical homes driving tour through the town, civil war national cemetery

Baton Rouge to New Orleans - the old plantation homes, etc.

Lafeyette (sp?) near Near Orleans - swamp tour (fun & interesting!)
