I love town. Local, mostly organic, menu changes often. We always describe it as a very "Pacific Northwest " type of place. BYO, IIRC, and right across the street frog a good wine shop.
BYO used to mean Bring Your Own....what does it mean today? IIRC????
I assume it still means the same thing? A restaurant without a liquor license but you can buy a bottle of wine in the shop across the street.
They show a wine/cocktail/beer list on their website.
There's a street frog too who likes wine.
i also checked their website and they have a full bar so not sure what's with BYO...
When it first opened it was Bring your Own Bottle. Going across the street to Tamura's was part of the fun. it's been about a year since I was there, so that's why I said IIRC -"if I recall correctly"
We had a good lunch at Town today. DH had the burger and I got the pasta with kabocha, mushrooms and okra. We also went to Salt last night which is just down the street and that was good too.
I'm going to Salt tomorrow night! One of my current favorites.
Oooh. Salt is really good.
wouldyou recommend Salt over town? I amopento suggestions. Just want to try a new restaurant that has good local food...
I would, especially if you've been to Town. They are very similar in quality of food, but I like the atmosphere a little more at Salt.
Their menus are quite different so I would go with what sounds more appealing to you. Salt has more small plates that are good for sharing. It has more of a wine bar sort of feel with a hipper vibe. Town feels more casual, bistro like and is also open for breakfast and lunch in addition to dinner. The food is more Italian influenced. We enjoyed both.

Other newish places we tried this trip that we liked were Lucky Belly in Chinatown for Asian influenced food and Whole Ox Deli in Kakaako for meat, meat and more meat
