Request Driving tips from Zion NP, UT to San Francisco?

Departing Springdale on Wed and would appreciate the best route to SF for arrival on Fri. or Sat. We have been camping/hiking for two weeks and would like recommendations for a hotel on the way. Interested in scenic suggestions, but primarily interested in a safe and efficient drive as we are continuing to Seattle. Thank you.

I just found out I need to be in San Francisco on Thursday evening. I may be able to leave earlier than Wednesday, but would appreciate advice on which route to take .

Also, advice on how to tag my request.

Thanks.

Google offers three options, with not more than a couple of hours difference in driving time between them. Choose your poison, because it is about 780 miles whichever route you choose.

Thank you for you comments.

Any advice comparing traffic/road conditions on hwy 95 from Las Vegas to Carson City vs Hwys 15/80 through Salt Lake City to Carson City?

either of those will take even longer -- go through Bakersfield and up I-5.

Via Carson City is slightly shorter mileage -- but would have you in extremely heavy traffic from the eastern Sacramento suburbs all the way to the Bay Area, so would take longer.

Are there other trouble spots to watch for if I leave at noon from Zion NP and take the route hwy 15 through Las Vegas then Bakersfield and #5 to SF?

After Las Vegas the only problem spots won't be until when you are near SF or at least the eastern Bay Area suburbs. Are you going in to San Francisco 'proper' or somewhere else in the region?

Once you get to Tracy listen to the traffic reports to see if there are major tie ups on any Bay Area freeways and you can change routes if need be.

Dear Janisj

Thank you for all of you help. I may not have tried this route if it had not been for your help.
