Rental Car vs. Public Transport in Jackson Hole
I'm travelling to Jackson Hole next week and looking to finalize a few details. In my reading online, I came upon the idea that public transport (START) might be a viable option vs. renting a car for the few days we'll be there. I have a 13 year-old and an 11 year-old - I'm sure we could make it for a few days, I'm just not sure the savings will outweigh the inconveinience.

Sorry, I got ahead of myself... Arriving Monday 3/14. We're going to be staying at the Best Western Lodge, kind of half-way between the airport and Teton Village. We plan to take snowboarding lessons for a few days (Tues - Thurs) and fly home on Friday.
Thanks for any insight.

OK,
I would rent a car. You will pick up at the airport. I don't believe the shuttle bus service goes to the airport at all, let alone frequently, so you would have to start with a taxi or shuttle anyway.
You cannot drive straight to Teton Village from the airport. You have to go south first, through town(Jackson) then north again to Teton Village.
Have fun, Jackson Hole is an awesome mountain!

When we were skiing at Jackson Hole a few years ago, we found the START bus perfectly adequate for our needs (getting us from the hotel to the resort to go skiing, and getting us around town for dinner). HOWEVER:
1. Our hotel provided a free shuttle to and from the airport, so that logistical detail was taken care of.
2. Our hotel (Snow King) was the first stop on the bus route - didn't have to walk anywhere to catch the bus, always got a seat, and could wait inside the lobby (staying warm!) for the bus to show up. Plus, our hotel even gave us free bus passes.
Your mileage may vary...if your hotel doesn't have an airport shuttle, or isn't convenient to the bus, it might not work so well for you. Maybe call the hotel and ask, if you don't know the answers to these questions...
