Recommendations for location in LA, LV, Grand canon and SF

Hello,
i will be at LA from 2nd sept, We will be spending approximately 14 days in US, mainly: LA, Las vegas, Grand canon (north rim) and San francisco. Does anyone have any reccomandation to how long i should spend at each designated location? Is there certain locations that i should visit too? Our mode of transport would be driving.

Thank you

Totally depends on what you want to do and see. Is this an adult couple or family with kids? Amusement parks? Museums? Sporting events? Live shows? Do you gamble? Are you going to branch out and see other areas from these cities, such as San Diego or Laguna from LA, Wine country from San Fran, Zion from Vegas on your way to the north rim?

Since Sept can be very hot, you'll want to stay westside or oceanside when in L.A. From Vegas you prob won't do any 105degree hiking in Red Rock or Valley of Fire so that cuts your time there...but you might want a couple of nights at Zion National Park.

Roughly speaking I'd say 4 nights L.A., 5 nights Vegas which would include 3 days/ 2 nights near Zion and to see Grand Canyone,,,and 5 nights San Fran including a day and night in Wine Country or up to the Mendocino Coast (or both).

As an alternative side trip when you're in San Francisco, especially if you're coming with kids, you could do Monterey/Carmel for a couple of days.

If you're not interested in the national parks, other than to see the Grand Canyon, I'd consider 4-5 days in LA, 3 in Las Vegas (of which one would be a tour to the Grand Canyon) and 6-7 in Northern California (3 in San Francisco, 2 in Monterey/Carmel, 1-2 in wine country).

We like to stay in the Union Square vicinity in San Francisco; in Santa Monica, Beverly Hills, or Marina de Rey in Los Angeles; mid-Strip in Las Vegas (around the Bellagio); and at one of the rim lodges at Grand Canyon.

PS What time of year are you traveling?

Sorry, now I see you will travel in September.

I suggest you start your trip in LA, spend at least two or three days driving from LA to SF up scenic Highway 1 (there is much to see), and drive to Las Vegas via Yosemite NP, Tioga Pass, and Death Valley.

From Las Vegas visit Valley of Fire, Zion, and the Grand Canyon.

First weekend in September is a holiday period here, a good time to visit Los Angeles with a car as traffic is lighter than usual except for Monday late afternoon and evening. Las Vegas rooms will go way down in price on Mon Tues Wed and Thurs.
