Price UT to Ouray CO
Plan to stay in Price, UT just as a stopping point after flying into SLC on way to Ouray.
Two choices of routes are almost same distance and same time to Ouray so would appreciate any thoughts you have on either route.
Route 1: I70 to Grand Junction, south through Montrose to Ouray.
Route 2: I70 to 191, south through Moab, 46 through Naturita, Placerville, to 550 and Ouray.
On our return trip, we'll be picking up 191 in Monticello and staying in Moab, so will be seeing that area on return. Will be on smaller roads most of trip, so thinking going on interstate this day might not be too bad. Also can probably make better time than what Google map says. But is road between 191 and 550 something we shouldn't miss?

I believe they are going to Mesa Verde after Ouray, so they will drive the Million Dollar Highway to Durango and beyond. The drive down from Montrose is very nice and also part of the Million Dollar Highway.

Going from Ouray to Durango, you are on the inside lane so that eliminates drop off fears. It does have twist and turns.
I forgot when you are going; likely there will be a good amount of traffic so you won't be going fast.
