Please help--favorite hotel in French Quarter?

I know this question has been asked alot but I've read the old posts and haven't found what I am looking for.

What is your favorite hotel in the French Quarter? I am giving my parents a trip to NO for Christmas and I need to find a hotel (they'll be traveling in April). I was in NO in September and we stayed at the Royal Sonesta (got a great rate). I don't think staying on Bourbon St is exactly my parents' speed. I am looking for something not too expensive that has some of the charm of NO.

Thanks for your help!

A very nice place and not too expensive is the Place d' Arms. We take weekend trips to New Orleans once a year and have always been happy there. It is not on Burbon street but close enough to walk to. You can check them out online.

I like the Omni Royal Orleans. It has a great location right in the heart of the French Quarter on Royal Street. It also has a nice rooftop pool with great views of the French Quarter. I would recommend asking for a King Deluxe room with a balcony ... the standard rooms are quite small.

The Monteleone on Royal. Just a block over from Bourbon and a great location just in a block or so in from Canal. Very convenient, especially if they don't rent a car. Parking in the French Quarter is difficult and a car isn't really needed.

The Chateau Motor Hotel on Chartres Street. Quant little hotel. Rooms were not that big but we were only there to sleep & change. It's very close to the river, an easy 5 minute walk to boubon street and yet far enough away that you don't get the noise. i would never stay on bourban street.

The Monteleone is nice. It is close enough to Bourbon Street, Jackson Square and the Aquarium to allow you to walk to each, easily.

The prices are reasonable, as well.

I highly recommend either the Bienville House or the St. Louis, both well-appointed, reasonably priced and a killer location - in the action but not near Bourbon Street. Nice rooms, not your typical hotel standards. Enjoy!

Again Place d'Armes----right on Jackson Sq./2 short blocks to Bourbon/1 block to Royal or Decatur/far enough away from Canal St.(yuck)/ and it's not expensive and it's small and charming.
