Pacific Heights vacation rental with bay view
I'll be staying for a few days in
San Francisco on my way to and from Hawaii and am looking to book a short-term apartment with kitchen facilities. Decades ago I stayed in teh garret apt. of a wonderful Victorian home on Vallejo St. with great bay views and would like to relive the experience, if possible. Though I've checked vrbo.com and similar sites, I haven't found anything comparable. Does anyone have any leads or suggestions? (I wrote to the landlord of the bldg. on Vallejo but never received a response). Your advice/help is much appreciated!

Not exactly Pacific Heights, nearer North Beach, on Green close to Mason. This is the "penthouse" built onto a Victorian house as well. The views are amazing. We stayed here two weeks last summer and it was delightful. Not a really major kitchen, though, although there is a huge super grill on the walled patio as well as the rather minimal kitchen inside.
Since this is on VRBO perhaps you've seen this listing, but we sure loved it.

NeoPatrick, I must have missed that one on VRBO. It does look fantastic, I must say, and it goes on the short back-up list. For nostalgia's sake, however, I'd really like to stay near the Union St. area. But thanks very much!

Funny, you sound just like me. We first rented an apartment for a month on Filmore, just off Union Street. Then several times we rented apartments on Chestnut (Cow Hollow Suites) for a week, two, and once again for a month. So when looking last year, that's exactly where we wanted to be -- the Union Street area. I finally caved and rented this place.
We ended up loving it. We did go over to Union Street a few times (the Union Street bus stop is just a block from this apartment and the Mason cable car line is less than half a block away if we wanted to go to Union Square, but we also enjoyed some new to us restaurants between Union St. area and our area, as well as the North Beach places. I think I may have now been converted, but both areas are nice.

The candor and coincidence of your post is starting to work its voodoo on me, neopatrick, and I'm beginning to be swayed. Out of curiosity, how did you find the Cow Hollow Suites (also on my short list). What views did you have? Thanks again!
