Outlet Shopping in/near San Francisco

By the time you spend the gas money to drive all the way to Gilroy, you might as well pay full price in San Francisco. There is a big Macy's in town and often has sales. I would hate to see any visitor to SF bothering to go to Gilroy for the day.
Another outlet center is located in Napa, but I have no idea if there is a Tommy outlet. But would be worth a stop to look if you were out in wine country.

The outlets in Napa aren't worth it. The Gilroy Outlets are great. It's about 1 1/2 hours straight down 101 and outlets are just off freeway. I don't think the gas is going to be that much, but if you're really worried about it, I think the CalTrain might go all the way to Gilroy. I hate to shop but can easily spend a day in Gilroy. Check to see if there's a Tommy outlet for sure, but I believe there is.

Deb---My Apologies, I really gave you bad information. First of all, there's not a Tommy outlet at Gilroy. There is, however a Tommy outlet in the city of Napa, CA at Rt.29 and 1st Street. When I said the Napa outlets weren't worth it, I was thinking of the ones in St. Helena. I've never been to the one in Napa city, but they might have a website and for sure they have Hillfiger. SF to Napa will take about an hour if you don't go during rush hour. And, you might like to see a bit of the wine country while you're up there. Happy shopping!

Well, Deb, I also would not spare precious time from visiting San Francisco doing the outlet thing just to find some Tommy Hilfiger Jeans.
First, you can buy them discounted over the internet. Use my favorite Search Engine to find them and anything else you want to know about.
Search Engine: www.google.com
Then, type in appropriate search words.
However, if you feel you must fulfill that promise and visit an outlet mall, I have a suggestion that is quite a bit closer than Gilroy which is an outdoor mall.
There is an all enclosed one (much nicer if the weather is bad) called:
GREAT MALL in the city of Milpitas and I just checked; they do have a Tommy outlet. The website lists all their stores (180?), has tourist info, and, I believe, a detailed map on how to get there. Here's the website address:

Good luck and have a great trip!

Please do not waste your vacation going to Gilroy or the East Bay (Milpitas) to buy a pair of jeans. The jeans can easily be found at any mall in America and not worth sacrificing a day at the wharf or in one of the many lovely parks in SF. If you are planning on a trip to Napa (a great place to visit for a day), then go ahead and stop briefly by the outlets there.

Thank you very much to all that responded. Just for clarification, I am not making a special trip just to buy a pair of Tommy jeans. My husband and I planned to go to Napa, and thought we would stop at the outlet mall on our way back. But I must confess that I LOVE to shop. Because I am from Toronto, Ontario, Canada, it's nice to shop in the U.S. for a different selection (besides of course the exchange rate from Canadian to U.S). Thank you all again.
