Outlet Mall closest to the Los Angelos Airport

HI

My teenage daughter and I will be flying into
Los Angelos Airport, for an overnight stay.
We want to go shopping at an outlet mall.
Which one is the best and closest, and what is
the easiest way to get there?

No outlet malls worth the drive....really. And they are not that much cheaper. What are you looking for--let me know and maybe I can help.

They may be worth it if you are going from one place to another and it is inbetween. You can find good values if you are a savvy shopper. The closest one I am aware of near LAX is Ontario Mills.

Sorry, to get there take the 405 north from the airport, then the I-10 east. Ontario is about 45 min. to an hour. I think the exit is Haven. I am pretty sure they have a web site if you search. About an hour beyond is Desert Hills Factory Stores in Cabezon. Can't miss it off the 10. I think the appeal of these places, besides the reality or sometimes myth of low prices, is the huge variety of name brand stores you can go to in one place. I go to the one in Cabezon occasionally as it is on the way to places I frequent. Never made a special trip just for it. And I have found some really great brand stuff at low prices, usually during sales.

The closest outlet center to LAx would be the Citadel in the City of Commerce. Not an exciting area to visit, nor is the outlet center worth making a trip for.

The Ontario Mills is very large, but could take you well over an hour to get there depending on traffic.

There's also the outlet in Camarillo. It's about an hour from LAX if there is no traffic. You take the 405 fwy north to the 101 north, you can't miss it, it will be on the left side of the fwy about 45 min after the interchange.

I gotta tell you first that I also have a teenage daughter going to school in the LA area. She is a shopping fiend first class. Having just spent spring break with her several weeks ago my and her read on outlet malls close to LAX is nada. We even went as far as Cabazon which took me only 1 hour, 35 minutes from LMU. On the way back from skiing/snowboarding we also stopped off at Ontario Mills, even tho my wife warned us not to. Understand that we are serious outlet mall shoppers. Ontario was a bust. We spent maybe 3 hours there just wandering around without spending a cent. My daughter's recommendation is to check out Santa Monica Place/Promenade. It's maybe 20 minutes from LAX and kind of a neat way to shop and check out the locals. Take it from someone who's wife has researched outlet malls seriously before leaving on any vacation trip. aloha!

Maebun,
Milton is giving you the straight story. These outlets are not worth it. Many of the clothes there are made specifically for the outlets. And unless you're willing to plow through tons of less than perfect items to find the one item you like, you'll go home empty handed. I also don't think the prices are that great. You'll do better, enjoy your day,not have to fight traffic and find some great sales at the Promenade.

The Promenade is a nice place to window shop, even if you don't end up buying much. It's an outdoor pedestrian mall and there are lots of restaurants and cafes to take a break at in addition to browsing the boutiques. I lived in LA several years ago, but at the time there was also a mall (not huge but pretty nice) right off the Promenade. Don't know if it's still there, but Santa Monica isn't that far from the airport. At least it's much closer than Ontario Mills.
