One Horse Open Sleigh?? Where?

Where can my mother ride in a one horse (or multiple horse) open sleigh? She is 74 and wants to ride in one! I'd like to plan a January or February trip, prefer the northeast or midwest, as we live in north Florida, and wouldn't have as long a flight. She doesn't ski, so we don't necessarily need a ski resort. Any advice?

Providing there is enough snow, The Bethel Inn in Bethel,Maine offers sleigh rides. It is a lovely resort in a very quaint village, not in the midst of a ski area but close to one. So it is quiet. There are various types of rooms - the food is fantastic. Planning a trip in advance for this specific purpose is tough because it's difficult to predict when there will be adequate snowfall. I would contact the Inn and check for more info about the sleigh rides - make sure it is still happenning.

The Woodstock Inn in Woodstock, VT.
Sleigh rides, HUGE stone lobby fireplace, fine dining, afternoon tea and pianist, charming shopping village, Simon Pierce glass and crafters in Queechee... Fly into Manchester, NH - direct if possible - and it's less than a two hour drive on Rt. 89. As mentioned above, the snow is a variable. But we've had below average precipation for the past 6 months, so it's got to break sometime! Good luck with your plans!

Try the Nordic Village resort in Jackson NH. There are two types of accommodations - either at the very beautiful inn with its pond outside for skating or at the condos across the street. Have stayed several times at the condos during the summer and have found them to be very well maintained and well furnished. The inn is gorgeous . The pond has a enclosed gazebo with fireplace to warm up in after skating or to watch other skaters from. The sleigh rides look great too.

Jeannie,

I've always heard the place to go was Mackinaw Island. Not even quite sure where it is...Michigan or Wisconsin.

Mackinaw Island is in Michigan.

Check out franconiainn.com

Would like to go here myself if I could hear from anyone who has gone. Looks like a great place to take a Christmas trip.
