"On the Ave Hotel" Upper West Side---Need a nice reasonably priced hotel in October for NYC

Jump to last reply

I'll be traveling to New York in October and have been having difficulty finding a reasonably priced hotel. My goal would be to find a hotel with a great bed and great linens for 200-300 dollars. Internet access would also be a plus.

I've found the ON THE AVENUE on the Upper West Side for 340 with a AAA discount: www.ontheave-nyc.com

and have also noted the Marriott Financial Center going for 284 with a AAA discount as well. I don't mind riding the subway to places, but will the area be completely dead on the weekend?

I'm doing a Thursday to Sunday trip and seeing two plays in the Times Square Area and hope to hit a few musuems while there.

I've stayed at the Washington Square Hotel before which I like, but it's completely booked. I've managed to Priceline MORGANS hotel in Murray Hill a few times in the off season which I've enjoyed as well. I do like the Upper West Side area, with ZABARS and FAIRWAY, but maybe exploring the downtown area will be good to do this time.

Will there be people in the area?

Can anyone give me their impressions of:

ON THE AVE HOTEL
and
MARRIOTT FINANCIAL CENTER..

Also any tips on finding another hotel in October would be appreciated.
