Ocean City/Bethany ,MD house rental
I'm looking for a large beach house for 3 families sometime this summer(July/Aug)--or for next summer if it's too late now--for one week. Does anyone know of any place like this that is nice and good for families? Thanks for any info!

You need to contact a local realtor to rent a house. I think that O'Connor, Piper & Flynn has a lot of listings in that area. Try www.opf.com and they have a beach section. Very few owners rent directly, they all use agents. You are probably late for this season. PS I haven't heard about any sewer leaks!

Here's a link you might want to try. http://www.connorjacobsen.com/rentals/cathill/cathill.html
I found this by going to alltheweb.com, and putting in a few particulars in the advanced search. I got a lot of hits for that area. Try it out. Oh and by the way, the beachs are not contaminated. Good Luck with your search.

If you are looking for a home to rent at the beach I would check out the Web site beachin.net from there the real estate section can help you with rentals. You need to move quickly as most rentals go beginning in January. The beaches in both Delaware and Maryland are fine. I live in the area and there has been nothing in the news about a sewer leak. If you are unable to find anything in the area you want you might think of Fenwick Island, Rehobeth beach or futher north from Bethany- Lewis Delaware. hope this helps

Try the following firms, they all do a lot of business in rentals in Bethany/Dewey/Rehoboth:
Crowley Associates
Prudential Gallo
Long & Foster
O'Conor Piper & Flynn (now called Coldwell Banker Residential)
The nicest (newest, biggest, most expensive) houses are in North Bethany--they are building some HUGE beach houses in little enclaves between Route 1 and the beach. Bethany is known for being more of a family beach. Dewey caters more to the singles & 20-30 year old bar scene. Rehoboth is very nice (and has a boardwalk), and is more established as a year round town than Bethany or Dewey. Rehoboth also has some nice homes, but they are usually more expensive, and some are older (victorians etc.), and not as "beachy" as the ones right on the dunes in Bethany. Rehoboth also attracts a large gay population, if that factors into your decision.
Ocean City has a lot more condominiums, and is larger than Bethany, and has a boardwalk at the bottom of it (1st-30th streets). The nicest and newest places are up in the higher street numbers (80th street & above). Not too many oceanblock single family homes.
