Ocean City, MD: Family Friendly Place to Stay

We are planning a trip to Ocean City, MD around the end of June and are looking for a family friendly place to stay. We have two children - they will be 14 (boy) and 3(girl) at the time of our travel.

Can anyone recommend a place to stay that would be fun and also would be bearable for the parent who stays w/ the three year old while she naps during the day?

We saw the "Francis Scott Key Motel" and also was wondering if anyone had any input on that one.

Thanks for your help!

TripAdvisor ranks the Francis Scott Key as their #1 "for families", so that's probably your best bet:

Hope that helps!

We loved the Hilton Suites on the beach/great balcony rooms and nice pools. New/modern rooms with flat screen TVs. Separate sitting room from bedroom so the parents can hang out in one room while the kids nap. Great bathrooms with jacuzzi tubs. Microwave/stove/fridge area between bedroom and sitting room. Lots of room for a family of 4.

We've vacationed in OC many times and found the best accomodations were condos, rather than hotels/motels. Also, you may want to stay farther away from the boardwalk for a little more sanity, and a milder crowd on the beach. I used to use the Coldwell Baker realty group. the website was CBvacations.com, but we havent been there in a few years so I'm not sure if they operate under the same name. Long & Foster (or Foster & Long) is another realty co that had lots of listings. We also found we could save a few dollars by looking for Oceanside (not directly on the ocean) rather than oceanfront accomodations. Oceanside accomodations were the buildings next to the oceanfront accomodations, and only a few steps to the beach.

The Francis Scott Key motel is located in West Ocean City. If you stayed there, you would have to drive over the Rt. 50 bridge in order to get to the beach.

I think you would be better off renting a condo located on the beach. Parking is a big problem in Ocean City in the summer months. Also crossing Coastal Highway can be a real zoo.
