Oahu- circle tour- which bus?

Middle aged couple travelling from Australia end of May and have one week on Oahu.

Would like to experience an overview of the island with a "Circle Tour" and considering:

(a) Bus tour, possibly ENOA because of smaller group size- 25 people

(b) Riding The Bus and hopping on and off

Not really considering car rental for the day as seems bit of unwanted stress

We would visit Pear Harbor on a different day.

Particularly interested in hearing from anyone who's used The Bus for this- I understand it will take a long time but we usually enjoy using public transportation in new places as a way of a better appreciating an area.

Your thoughts and advice?

The circle tour is a great way to get an overview of the whole island. We did this last year and really enjoyed it.

Thanks montereybob

Do you mean tour on local bus or with tour company?

Definitely go with a tour company. The local buses don't go all the way around and don't stop at places tourists want to see. Plus the tour has a guide to tell you interesting info about what you are seeing. You will need reservations a couple days in advance.

I wouldn't use The Bus (the local bus) to do a hop on/hop off to do a circle island tour. The Bus has circle island routes, but the stops may not be convenient to what you want to see.

Plus, the waiting times for the next bus to come around (depending on what day, the route and time of day) will be anywhere between 30 minutes to an hour.
