O hotel Los Angeles

Any opinion of this hotel? Main concern is safety walking to/from Staples Center. Don't know anything about the area at all.

It's "O" hotel like a letter o, not number zero, right?

IF I get tickets, it will be afternoon performance till approx. 5 pm. Plan on walking to/from on Sunday.

Location: Flower Street by Macy's plaza between W 8th and 7th Sts.

Hi FA:

I haven't stayed there - but the walk should be just fine. After an event there will be lots of folks walking the same direction so you won't be on any deserted streets. I've walked farther up Figueroa from Staples at night after games and not had any problems.

The hotel's address is 819 South Flower Street, which puts it between 8th and 9th Streets, just 3 longish blocks from Staples. Will you be alone, a couple, small group?

I'm an L.A. native and would walk both ways. When we go to Staples or Nokia, we like to park and have dinner at either Zucca or Roy's which are on opposite corners of Figueroa and 8th Street, so we've walked almost all the way to the O Hotel.

From Staples, I'd walk up Figueroa to 8th Street, turn right and then right again on Flower Street. Figueroa is a very busy street, especially after an event at Staples or Nokia.

Faina: have you ever tried using Priceline?

You can get a 3.5* "Los Angeles downtown" for about $75-$90, plus tax and fees of about $20. I see the Marriott or the Westin Bonaventura coming up for those bids.

Since you wouldn't have a car, you don't have to worry about paying for parking. You can also taxi back and forth if you get a room for a Priceline bid price. Beats hiking around DT Los Angeles!

Last year I got the Westin a couple of times for $65 and found it to be very nice hotel. It's on Flower between 3rd and 4th.

Thank you, all! Now all I have to do is to get a ticket for the World Figure Skating - the singles are not on sale yet
