NYC Hotel for 5

We (a group of 5 ladies) travel to NYC every early December. We stay together in one room. Finally found the Edison and planned on staying there again but they are already booked for this year. Can anyone suggest any other hotel that can handle 5 to a room that is reasonable and in a good area. We prefer close to the Theatre District but we might be willing (forced) to consider another location.

Most hotels can;t put 5 adults in a room - since there simply isn't space. You need to look for all suite hotels - so you can have 2 beds in the bedroom and a sofabed in the LR. Suggest checking the affinia group for moderate, generally well-regarded.

Other options, the Salisbury - older but full service and large rooms.

You could also look at Radio City Apartments - a great location, but tired and very basic. but - since their prices are good they fill up early.

My brother and his family (4 people total) just stayed at the Eastgate Towers in one of their 2 bedroom suites with 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, living area, kitchenette. They booked in January for mid April and paid under $270 by booking through Quikbook.com. It is NOT a fancy property, but there was nothing wrong with it either, the suite was absolutely HUGE, and it was exceptionally clean, and the staff was very friendly. Location is 39th & 3rd and he had no problem with transportation, bus & subway were both nearby and they walked to many attractions, including back from the theater district one evening.

This is one of the www.affinia.com hotels, so you might want to check their website for photos and prices, my brother found that www.quikbook.com the cheapest for their dates.

I think the rooms at Doubletree Guest Suites would accommodate your group...we had two double/queen beds and a double sofa bed in the LR....we asked for and got a room with three sinks, two in the bathroom and one in the bar area, if you don't get one of those rooms, just ask, it's important. The hotel is in the heart of Times Square.

nytraveler made a good suggestion with RCA, but as stated they do fill up quickly - the rooms that accommodate 5 are completely booked at $375 for all days in December except for 3 - and those 3 days are not consecutive. I really wouldn't call it "tired" as they have recently remodeled most of the baths and have replaced carpeting, and a lot of furniture. I stayed there about 6 months ago and found it to be fine; it's not a posh or trendy hotel by any means, but it also doesn't pretend to be.

I stand corrected, my bother told me they paid $185 for their room; if a firend of his hadn't stayed there a few months prior he would have been very leery of such a low rate for a 2 bedroom, but it was fine. I'm sure it's more now, but if it's available nad the price is right, go for it
