New Orleans 4 New Years
DH and I would like to spend New Years in New Orleans this year. Can anyone suggest a hotel. We are in our 30's and open to a party atmosphere, but would like a little quiet when we sleep at night. We dont want to use a car once we arrive. We like to venture to new places and open to the unusual.

Shebalnu, I would try for the Hotel Monteleone. It's very close to the action, but not right in the action. It's a very romantic hotel. For 12/31 - 1/2, a king bed is $299. http://www.hotelmonteleone.com/
With the fireworks, ball drop, and being televised with other cities NY Eve, it has gotten very crowded the last couple of years. Prepare for all kinds of weather. Last year is was very cold. Some years it's warm and muggy.

New Year's Eve is a great time to be in New Orleans. You get the nice party atmosphere and crowds like New York City, but much warmer weather. You can even watch the ball drop
Personally, I'd stay in the Warehouse District during that time of year to get a break from the noise.

We stayed at the Sheraton off of Canal when we were there for Mardi Gras last year. Off the beaten path, we are in our 30's too and wanted some down time and to get away when we were exhausted. Good hotel, great rates. We didn't need a car we walked not too far into the chaos that is Mardi Gras from the hotel in less than 5 mins

We always enjoy the Provincial The location is great, and it's very New Orleans-y.

You probably need to make your New Years reservations as soon as possible, wherever you stay. I don't know the exact dates of the Sugar Bowl this year, but it's always close to New Years.
Have fun.
