New Orleans - where to stay besides the Quarter?

Made a spontaneous decision to go to NOLA over spring break, but can't find a room in the Quarter/CBD or CC. There are 4 of us, so ir kind of rules out a B&B.

Are there any good alternatives to staying in the Quarter? Is Metarie too far? There also are rooms availlable in the Jazzland area -- I've never heard of this! Is it far from the FQ , and what's that area like? Safe and clean? Any hotels you'd recommend?

advice sorely needed/appreciated!

The Faubourg Marigny is a very popular place to stay in NO just across Esplanade from the French Quarter. It's filled with B&Bs, restaurants and hip bars. Have you tried La Maison Marigny and/or B&W Courtyards? They both get wonderful reviews.

eltrain - FYI, there is no need to post questions a second time. If you are ever having difficulty finding a previous post of yours, click your name in the upper left corner of this page (after you have logged in) and you will see a list of all of them.

Your other post has replies, so searching for it that way will give you some good info.
