I've already written about our upcoming four-day getaway to Napa Valley in late October. My new question regards transportation. We are flying into Concorde airport and then heading to our bed and breakfast in Napa. We had plans of renting a car at the airport and using it to visit the different wineries while we were there. Now I'm starting to wonder if renting a car is a bad idea. After all we will be drinking a bed at the different wineries. Has anyone done transportation in a different way.? I don't mean spending a lot of money for private driver. But what about something like Uber to get from winery to winery. Is that an easy thing to do in Napa. Does anyone recommend that approach. I'm not sure how high the charges are for Uber in Napa. It might end up costing the same to use Uber every day instead of renting a car every day. Help?

I'm curious about Uber in wine country so look forward to hearing from others, but we always rent a car and drive ourselves. We share one tasting between the two of us, and take breaks for walks/hikes and food.

Could you just open the Uber app and plug in a couple of wineries for pickup and destination and then see what the estimated charge would be??

We did Uber in NV last Nov for our anniversary.

Stayed in St Helena (El Bonita) and used it to get to/from Yountville.

Easy peazy but a bit of a wait at times.
I think the wait to go to Y'ville was about 10 mins and then after dinner and some bar hopping on Washington St. in Y'ville, it was 10-15 mins.

Time enuff to have one more glass of wine, of course.

As for winery to winery, once again, depends on how many Ubers on the road at any given time.

2 very good drivers. One was a retired Fireman/EMT from the East Bay. Moved to NV and got bored.

Hey Kal, have I already asked you how you liked El Bonita? We had plans to stay there last winter which fell through, shooting for this December now.

At the risk of hi-jacking (but also TTTing for more review-suggestions) we really liked the El Bonita and will def got back. Not a 4 Diamond/Star etc but very clean, great staff and the location is very nice. Loved morning coffee/continental b'fast around the pool.

Downside, if you are pulling out to go N/bound at commute time, tourist time, it might be easier to turn S/bound then turn around down the road.

We walked to Harvest Table. Very good resto.

I always drive and spit. If you want to taste the wine at the third winery, you should spit anyway. You can get drunk at dinner.

However... Not sure how you would get a rental car at Concord anyway, as it doesn't see normal scheduled service. I'd be shocked if they have any onsite rental car agencies. You'd probably need to do something like Enterprise and have them meet you.
