My Beaufort, SC weekend

This weekend I visited a dear friend who lives in the area called The Point in Beaufort, SC. The location is great because you can easily walk to dinner or the shops. On the day of our arrival we had dinner at Wren's about a block from the bridge to Lady's Island. I had a grilled scallop and shrimp brochette which was excellent. The side dishes were very fresh spinach and garlic mashed potatoes. One of the others in my group had the filet mignon and said it was very good. I can also attest to an excellent prosecco! We had breakfast twice at Blackstone's. It is reliable and quite good. The only lunch we had out was at Plum's. Plum's has been around for quite a while but it seems to have new life. The food was good and the service quick.

The Waterfront festival was in full swing with live bands, tasting booths and plenty of activities at the waterfront park. For me the highlight was a great fireworks display.

I was a bit ambivalent about visiting Beaufort in July as it is normally quite hot and humid, but the weather this weekend was fantastic. No humidity, moderate temps and a great breeze...we didn't even notice the mosquitos!

Beaufort is a charming small Southern town with a fair share of good restaurants. It is about halfway between Savannah and Charleston so if you have time, stop off for a visit.

Although I have been back to Beaufort several times since I did this report it looks like this was the only tr I did. Hope it helps.

I would add Saltus Grill to the restaurants to try!

Thanks for topping. cmcfong, It seems we have in common that we both ate at Plum's, although a few years apart. Your friend must live awfully close to my uncle, as I too walked to Plum's from my uncle's house. I concur, Plum's is a cheerful restaurant in a charming town.
