Memphis/Romantic Dinner & Dancing

I will be in Memphis, TN, in July celebrating a birthday with a long lost love. I need help locating a restaruant for a romantic, dressy but not black tie, candlelit dinner (total check for two should be under $125). Also, an after dinner romantic location for music and dancing. I will be staying downtown, but open to suggestions outside of the immediate downtown area. Thanks.

I was in Memphis in March...great town! Try these websites 1) memphisguide.com 2) memphismojo.
com 3) memphis.com (all of these have extensive listings of restaurants & comments.) Also, have pictures of them and places to go after dinner ie.Beale Street is great!! Try this site ALSO............
www.talbothouse.com then go to we recommend.
This is where we stayed while in Memphis, the owners of the guesthouse know everything about Memphis and their recommendations were right on target. Make sure you review River Terrace Yacht Club in this section!! Enjoy.

Try Marenas 1545 overton park
(901) 278-9774. You must have a
reservation. Lovely, quaint place.
My husband and I had our first date there.
Interesting menu, changes each month.
Owned by a lovely couple. What kind of dancing are you into? Lots of different choice.

I know it's not the dressy place you want to eat dinner at, but for fun go to the Rum Boogie Cafe on Beale Street. My husband and I went there in January and it was soooo much fun to sit and drink and listen to this fabulous jazz group that was there. (The same group should be there still, a black guy that is great, and this long haired girl), anyway it can be very romantic, and very much fun! Hope you get to visit there!

Sara Check out Cafe Society and Windors while you are in Memphis. Both are a real dining experience. If you want to spend, say, $100 for dinner for two the best is Erlings located in East Memphis on Yates off of Poplar. Cafe Society is a yuppie-type or trendy-type neighborhood restaurant. Cafe Expresso is great for dessert. Automatic Slims is also an unusual restaurant. All of these suggestions are French cusine. If you want more information, just let me know.
