Looking for available accomodation

Hi,
My name is Catriona, I'm a student from Ireland, studying for a Marketing and Managment degree. Myself and my friend Wendy are looking for accomodation for the summer, we are travelling on a J1 working permit visa. we will be visiting from 1st June 2002, until the start of November.
We are looking for an available studio or small apartment to stay in. We are very responsible and tidy.
Please email me at [email protected]
Kind regards

It would help us out a lot if you told us what city you were looking for accomodations in.

If you are talking about Indianapolis, I may have a suggestion. Is this the city your are traveling to?

There is a very inexpensive hostel in Fargo. Is that where you're headed?

Lots of Irish students in Cape Cod. Are you heading that way?

Rather than just add more silly comments, I figured that Catriona had apparently not understood how the forum works. Since she included her email I emailed her and asked her to clarify.
She and her friend are going to be in Chicago and are looking for a place near Lincoln Park or Wrigley Field.

It really didn't take any longer for me to email her to find out than it would have to write in a silly comment here. Hope our foreign visitors are not turned off by the locals' attitudes! Welcome to the US, girls.

Now, does anyone have some help for these girls?

No, Patrick, if they not only can't post correctly in the first place but also can't even correct their own post but need you to hold their hand, then they are too stupid and immature to be alone in Chicago and they should stay home and grow up first.

Unless I'm missing something, nobody responded with a "silly comment". Every response was potentially helpful! I fail to understand anyone's need to chew out either the original poster, who was simply unsure of how to use this forum {stupid and immature? Isn't that a bit harsh?} or the trying-to- be helpful responders.

Did it ever occur to you xx, if you read the post, that this person may not even have regular access to a computer and was posting this here as a one time thing? Since she asked for the responses to be emailed directly to her, maybe that indicated that she would not be returning here to get answers so she wouldn't even know that people were unaware that she had failed to include the location. It's nice to know that you have never made a "stupid" post, but most of us have forgotten to include a thing or two from time to time, so many of us would appear stupid to you.
Congratulations, Patrick. It's nice that someone would rather spend a little effort and be helpful instead of posting insulting remarks about visiting travelers.
Oh, yes, and I believe totally that those little comments about individual places were meant to be helpful. Right!

There is a hostel in downtown Chicago, priced from $20 a night - see
http://www.hichicago.org/
The other places to try would be the Art Institute (www.artic.edu)- they have two downtown student dorms that may be available in summer, or DePaul University, which is right in the Lincoln Park neighborhood.
There is also a newspaper online called the Chicago Reader (www.chireader.com) which has a great "Spacefinders" feature.
