Las vegas-best hotel if traveling alone
Will be traveling alone to Las Vegas for a few days and wondering which hotel would be the best for a single women. Want to feel safe, secure, and close to all the fun!
No budget, willing to splurge a bit.
Thanks!

Wynn or Belagio are the best high end choices. Both perfectly safe. Wynn is directly across the street from Fashion Show Mall.
The mid-ranges that are still beautiful and safe would include Venetian, MGM, or Ceasars.

Once upon a time the Rio used to have a security guard posted by the elevators and anyone trying to go up to had to show a room key. This seemed like a good way of keeping guests secure. When Harrah's took over the Rio this practice was stopped. Do any other hotels still post security guards at the elevators?

The Bellagio has security guards that are real sticklers about the key. They make sure everyone has one before boarding the elevator.
You might also consider the Four Seasons since you don't walk through a casino to get to your room. It is a distance from the mall etc, though, and there is a construction site between the hotel and mid-strip.

Regarding guards at the elevators, Bellagio sure enforced it. And at the Venetian Towers we had lunch at Bouchon, and when leaving there accidentally passed the right elevators and were heading towards the room elevators. We were nearly attacked by the guards!

While my husband and I go to Vegas togther, I am alone most of the day (my husband gambles, I dabble in it) I have always been and felt very safe in the Bellagio. They are very strict with security, not only do you have to show your room key but security partols the hallways constantly. The hotel is beautiful and the location is perfect. It's an easy walk to Cesaers next door and the walkway is right out the door which will take you across the street to Paris and Bally's. Getting a cab (forget the monorail) is very easy and well worth it. I just love the spa! I have an early breakfast and hot the spa at 8:30 am for 9am treatments (book in advance) and spend the entire morning there until lunch. The spa has everything you will need with to get dressed except your cosmetics....but they also have a wonderful salon where they will apply make up for you too. I usually meet my husband for lunch and then gamble a little or shop or go to the pool or sit by the French pastery shop and indulge in a beautiful treat. Lots of restaurnat choices too. Olives is my particular lunch favorite. Their Martini's are what dreams are made of. If you are into shopping The Bellagio has all the top name shops and Cesaers next door has more. The Fashion mall is no big deal, but it all depends on where you live... lots of people love it but I am from NY so the Fashion Mall is moot for me.
I don't see my husband until dinner, so I am alone all day. If my husband didn't love Vegas sooo much I would say The Bellagio is the perfect single women's get away. Get a room with a lake view (fountain view) and enjoy the in room fountain music. The beds are dreamy and the rooms just perfect. One of my favorite places is the Petrosian (sp?) It's the piano bar just next to the lobby. The perfect place to enjoy some caviar and champagne and people watch...OMG people watching in the lobby is a must do - LOL. So having been to Vegas many times I have found the Bellagio to be just right for me - I have to be dragged out of there kicking and screaming!! Well not really but it is hard to leave.
The only safety tip I have is to use a smallish shoulder bag that fits comfortably under your arm. Never put your purse down!

I have stayed at most of the mid- to upper-end hotels on the Strip, and nearly all of them check for room keys at the elevators for the evenings. The Mirage is one of these, and it would also be a good choice for a woman alone. But I have to point out that all the hotels on the Strip are very safe. Security is a major priority with the casino/hotels. If guests felt unsafe, they would not come, they would not gamble or spend money, so security is always there.

as mentioned, all the hotels have lots of Security. Orleans has a guard at the elevator and I believe that Gold Coast does as well (you could call and ask). Gold Coast is next to two other casinos (The Rio and The Palms)...so you can walk easily to more restaurants etc. Also, Rio and Palms have shuttles so that you'd have 3 choices of shuttles if you go off to the Strip. Orleans is a bit more isolated but perfectly save in my opinion.
