Las Vegas

Need to know what good shows to see in Vegas towards the end of April. Also need great moderate priced places to stay in the heart of the strip.

We are headed back to Vegas in April also. Again we will stay at the Monte Carlo. It is a brand new
luxury hotel. It is located at one end of the strip and is surrounded by the MGM, Luxor, and New York. You can easily take the MGM tram to the other end of the strip and visit Caesars, Treasure Island,
Mirage. Our decision is based on rates. We paid
$80 per night weekday and $150 weekend. This is considerably lower compared to other big casinos. You should visit the site www.lasvegas.com and click on attractions. They will show bands, and stars playing plus have a review of hotel shows and restaurants. I have found their opinions to be very reliable. Also, it has been in to 80s in Vegas. They have a great pool, Lance Burton magic show, brewery with fun music, Have FUN!!

I don't know if your dates will correspond with this sale (you have to scroll down a bit to see the prices), but it looks like a good deal to me. I believe Circus Circus is in the heart of the strip, right? I've never been there but would like to go the beginning of July.
Anyone hear of any REALLY good air/hotel package deals? Or even just airfare? I can't find anything cheap right now.

I would recommend Bally's as a reasonably priced hotel which is right in the middle of the strip. As for shows - I saw "Mystere" by Cirque Du Soleil at Treasure Island and was awestruck (I paid a steep $90.00CDN) for my ticket but would (and will) pay it again to see that fabulous show! You have to book it early though - it was certainly worth seeing. Good luck!

As to the question about circus circus..Its on the FAR! north end of the strip. And this is just my opinion, but...MUCH nicer places to stay for the money. Its seen better days..
As for moderate priced hotels..Treasure island,NY NY, MGM, Luxor, Excaliber. All first rate hotels and
VERY reasonable. However, you should be warned that
if there is a convention in town the same time you are there, all shoot there rates thru the roof..A $89.00 room becomes a $300.00 room. Found that out the hard way just last week.
As for shows.. As said before, Myster'e at treasure island is a must see..worth every penny!!!!.Lance Burton is also fantastic. Book early for either of these to get a good seat. Sig and Roy is good but a little over priced I think..Seen F/X with Michael Crawford and that was excellent also, but have not seen it with cassidy. The dinner show at Excaliber
is also very exciting. If you get a chance, go downtown at night, and catch the Fremont experience.
If you have not heard of this, they covered about 4
blocks of Fremont street with a giant lighted display. Every hour, or maybe half hour they have
a show..you stand in the street and watch jets, buffalo, cowboys, dancing girls..over your head.
Very neat!! Hope this helps..have fun!!

Have been to Vegas several times & Siegfried & Roy at the Mirage is a must! It's expensive, but it's your vacation & you should splurge a little. It's a fantastic show! For something less expensive the Rockettes are playing at the Flamingo Hilton & that is very good also. Saw Splash at the Riviera last year, also a very good show. Do not get seats in the front row, you will get wet. We usually stay Downtown....the Strip is far too crowded anymore, also we win alot more money Downtown. If you go there, don't miss the Fremont Street Experience. It's a laser show that plays every hour & it's really unbelievable. They had an excellent show on New Year's Eve! Have fun & good luck!

Have been to Vegas 4 times in the last year and hope to go back within the next month or so. The first 3 times we stayed on the Strip-Stardust; Excalibur-Imperial and then decided to stay Downtown at the "EL CORTEZ". It was alot cheaper thsn the STrip-about 25$ CDN a night for a suite which was an amazing room...but we found that after a day and a half we were somewhat bored with the "Freemont Experiance".

Your best bet is to stay in the middle of the strip-anywhere around Ceaser's or Treasure Island.

e or TREASURE ISLAND.
