Lake Tahoe Ski / Casino Choices Question
This is for a possible early Dec. 2007 stay. I would like suggestions upon lodging that would have ski opportunities, casino and dining available without a car. All suggestions would be appreciated. I have been at Lake Tahoe only in summer and within a friend's owned condo. I don't know much about the choices still available. Harvey's is already booked up.

Harvey's was going to be my reply. We stayed there many times in ski season. Did you try Harrah's across the street? They are owned by the same company, and have an underground tunnel connecting the two hotels.
Horizon's is next to Harvey's. They have nice restaurants, movie theaters and casino.
They all have bus transportation to the ski slopes, but you can walk to the gondola which takes you to Heavenly for local skiing.

Your best option for skiing without a car is to use the gondola right on stateline on the south shore. The gondola takes you up to Heavenly on the CA side.
Embassy Suites, Harrah's, Mont Bleu, Marriott Grand Residence and more motels than you can count all are within walking distance of the gondola. Go to tripadvisor and do a hotel map of South Lake Tahoe. Also, Craigslist San Francisco Bay Area and Sacramento forums have loads of Tahoe vacation rentals.

Horizon has everything you've listed plus a movie theater (is it still opened?)
There is also Mont Bleu - rather new, it was a Caesar.
I think Embassy Suites is the closest to the gondola, but there is no casino. Embassy is across from Harrah's.
When you have time, go to Harrah's, take the elevator to the buffet (is it on 18th floor?) just for the priceless view. You don't have to go to the buffet or the restaurant if you don't want to.
You will find shows in those 2 casinos, do a search before leaving for this trip.
Will you visit San Francisco? Or flying into Reno?
